The history of the monastery dates back to 1320, when it was founded by Carthusian monks as a branch convent of the monastery on the Rock of Refuge in the Spiš region. In the 18th century, it underwent partial building modifications, which determined its current appearance. The main preserved buildings of the complex are a Gothic single-nave church, a medieval monastery building with a refectory and a cloister, the so-called clock tower, farm buildings and the so-called large cloister with partially preserved houses for monks. The most artistically and historically valuable decoration with wall paintings has been preserved in the church and the medieval refectory.
